Overbuilt DIY stands?

I think there are very few structural engineers on here. I imagine that every commercial stand vendor has their stands profenssionally designed (and spelled) by and Engineer.

Yes, they are professionally engineered to use the least cheapest materials possible and still last as long as the warranty period.

It mainly has to do with the simplicity of design and construction that comes from the 'RocketEngineer' DIY stand guides that gained so much popularity on another forum. The triple 2x4 corner posts are 3x what anyone needs, but they are cheap and it helps make assembly go easily. It also allows you to go 'skinless' and still be strong enough against racking.
My first stand build I tried to skimp on the unsupported front beam (2x4, 48" long) and it sagged. 2nd stand build I used a sistered pair of 2x6. I feel much better about it and the cost difference is minimal.
