I decided on what to do.
-HOB skimmer.
-DIY canister filter with a black return hose that has a Wye adapter to split the return into two hoses.. then have them run down the back left and right corners with holes drilled into it (more water movement)
- the back of the seaclear is already black, so they should blend in pretty well.

Edit: looking at skimmers I can have inside the tank.. read about flooding disaster’s from HOB skimmers
