Particular elements for different corals

Hi randy I was wondering if you can help out, I'm getting some really good growth on some of my corals

However other corals such as my Bali green slimer which I had for months and millis

just seem to be basing out and not really growing much, I have been dosing iodine, zinc and vanadium for some months now and I really see a difference on my hysterix/ stylo. So my question is do certain corals require particular elements to thrive?

All corals likely require the same basic elements. Aside from alkalinity (and iodine which I don't think corals need), they are probably the same ones you need.

There may be differences in how low the concentration of a particular element in a particular form can get and have a particular coral get enough of it.

So why would these corals not appear to do as well as my stylo, digi, hysterix? Flow? Light?

SPS will encrust much more in the beginning. Then they start grow up or out (tables). As long as the elements are in line and stable, don't change what isn't broken[emoji4] If you notice a downturn, then check the params/all elements. Everything looks great!

If you're concerned yet, it can be lighting, flow, chemically warfare, etc.

They may have a need for some trace element to be dosed to a higher concentration. That' doesn't conflict with anything I said, but there are lots of other reasons corals do not thrive, from inadequate to excessive compounds of some sort (N, P, trace metals, toxins, organics, etc.), light, flow, other creatures bothering them, etc.

Hi Randy, I wasn't disagreeing with you, sorry if it sounded that way. Merely trying to get to the bottom of the issue, my phosphate was abit high on my last triton test, probably due to the amount of fish I keep, I have been keeping nitrate at 5 consistently for about a year now. but no heavy metals etc. I have now got two phosphate reactors to try and bring the phosphate down lower, so do you think if I bring the phosphate down to lower levels I might see better growth?

I have attached my last triton results, any advice would be appreciated.

It might help growth to reduce phosphate, but I wouldn't assume it necessarily will.
