Years ago I had 120 gallon mixed reef built into my living room wall. The tank had its own room with a sink and storage for supplies, but over time I got tired of the hobby, after many years, and decided to close up shop. Had a piece of painted wood over the opening and the room became a storage closet for junk. Few years ago I started over and decided on freshwater, so plywood came off and new tank was put in. At the same time, I had been watching all the changes in the Saltwater hobby, and decided that something small, but not too small, would be a good way to start the addiction again. Went with the UNS R90, very nice tank/stand/sump. The stand is aluminum with magnetic doors, and the sump is laid out pretty nicely. This was going into my office so I didn't want a bunch of extra stuff everywhere nor something that required large volumes of water, etc. Tank is 35" x 22" x 22" and with the sump holds about 80 gallons. Big enough to have a decent amount of fish and corals without being a chore. So far, I went with the following:

Lights: 2 Prime 16 hd LEDs, 1 Radion XR15 G6 Pro LED
Return Pump: Sicce SDC 6.0
Controller: Hydros Launch
Flow: Gyre XF350 Cloud Edition (1), mounted vertically on side near back
Skimmer: Bubble Magnus Curve 3 Elite. May change to Reef Octopus Regal 150 INT once I have a heavier bioload
ATO: Hydros Triple Optical ATO
Rock: Marco Rock
Substrate: Special Grade Arag-Alive! Reef Sand - CaribSea

Cycled tank on 6/28/25 with Dr. Tims ammonia and Fritz Turbo 900, then did the Biome cycling with AlgaeBarn Copepods and Phyto plankton. Few small Zoa frags added on 7/19/25.

First two inhabitants added on 7/26/25 were a bonded pair of clownfish, a Picaso and a Super Storm, both from Clownfish Coral in San Diego.

Just added a Blood shrimp, some Astrea snails, and 2 Nassarius snails, as well as 2 Goniopora frags.

The idea is to have a mixed reef over time, with a majority of SPS. Still need to get a dosing pump to deal with my calcium/alk/mag. Very limited need at this point though, only have 2 Goni frags. Used Tropic Marin All For Reef, which got the calcium up, but didn't have much impact on my alk. Using Soda Ash currently and may not stick with All For Reef, or maybe will stay with it and just dose Soda Ash as well for the alk. I'm assuming the calcium/alk/mag demand will be changing soon once Reefapalooza comes and my wallet drains from some additional frags.

Not the best pics, too much reflection in this room, but gives some idea of what I have going on.

Not specifically. Spent a dangerous amount of money at the past Reefapalooza in Anaheim. Got an Oregon Tort which I had though about for years, and a few others. May grab a tried and true Green Slimer as well at some point. So many different options out there, hard to choose!

Some great choices. Green slimer is such a classic!

Well, unfortunately I had some disease take out all my fish, think it was flukes. I always said I would QT my fish, but I had a couple come in without, QT tank wasn't quite ready. Lesson learned. Luckily, corals and inverts are doing well though. Ended up getting a UV sterilizer that I still need to hook up. Tank going to be fishless for a couple of months and will try again!
