Hey fellas

I bought a nice pectinia yesterday days and when i put it in my tank she looked great.
Today she had gaping holes where her mouth were and there is one almost ripping appart. Parameters show that the water is stable, still doing the kh mg and ca, i have moved the coral to a low flow in the tank with low light and its already on dip treatment what should i do to avoid the worst?

The first thing that grabs me is alkalinity. At 10, while not high, probably higher than whatever was at the store. I wouldn't necessarily start chasing numbers and changing everything in your tank, I would let things be, cross your fingers, and see how things go. this is a reason why we need to do a long drip acclimation on any new additions in our tank. Alkalinity swings can be devastating to new corals

I know that pectinias are fragile and delicate like chalices so i did a 2 hour acclimation period.
Im doing the water change mainly due to the PO4 values that it gave me
Still ill only do them in 20 hours so untill then ill cross my fingers

It's hard for me to see in your pictures, but it looks like it might just have it's mouths open. Mine does that from time to time, then it's fine a little later. Yours might just be getting used to the new surroundings. My own rule of thumb is to never change parameters of the entire tank based on one coral, if everything else is happy.

Oh i forgot to mention. It has been 2 hours since the water change and ive made kh drop a bit and PO3 lower significantly. The pectinia itself has started to close some of its mouths, wich is positive, still ill keep doing the water changes moderatly to lower kh and PO3

Hope it pulls through for you!

Unfortunatly it didnt :(
Its started to loose flesh way to fast and it was poluting the water, so i had to take it out of the tank to save all of the coral and fish that i have to avoid the worst case scenario.

Thanks all who helped me in this thread, thought!!!!!!!
