I hit mine yesterday but nearly all tanks were covered in Dino’s I’ll pass for now. They had a nice bubble tip for $40 too

What I have found with PetCo is that they have almost no granularity in their pricing. Tiny frag with one yellow polyp hanging from it? $25. Large toadstool with neon green polyps? $25. Same goes for anemones, they basically have a flat rate for “creature with tentacles”

I found this BTA at Petco today. Seemed pretty bland at first, but I noticed the tips and base were very interesting. Then I noticed the pattern on the tentacles. I decided to take it home and see if it grew into something interesting.

As soon as I got it under some decent lighting I was glad I took the chance. This BTA is worth every penny already! I can't wait to see it when it gets bigger.

I got one just like that at my PetCo. Love it and so do my Clowns!

It's just funny though how they'll charge like an absurd amount for Xenia, mushrooms, or toadstools, but then sometimes have some good snags. When I asked how much the Urchin was since I didn't see a price they checked on their stocklist, and it was only 11 bucks and I thought I heard her wrong. Like that's insane for a captive bred urchin, and especially since some of their other stuff is ridiculously priced.
But it's crazy also they get so many captive bred fish, especially when compared to a lot of LFS's. Fish like certain Dottyback's and captive bred gobies/blennies are almost never available outside Petcos.

It’s been a long time since I’ve seen one, but are you sure that’s not a heteractus magnifica?
It has a lot on common color wise, but no. It is definitely a BTA, and acts like one in my tank.

To be clear, if it was I'd be over the moon about it! Maybe next trip, LOL

Man I did the same thing. Was almost white in the store got it home and it's bright green now. Beautiful and half the price.

There must be a real difference between FL and the rest of the country. I was looking at the fish in my local Petco and the fish dept. woman comes up to me and whispers, "Never buy fish from here. Go to any other store." +1 for honesty

My daughter and I were travelling out of town and stopped by a Petco to pick up something for her freshwater tank. I ended up with a gigantea that they sold to me as a mini carpet anemone for $35.00. It is pretty bleached and not in great shape but it's still alive and getting better after 2 weeks.

My best scores that I’ve gotten from Petco recently was a ORA Black Snowflake Clown for $19.99 (sold to me as a saddle back clown even though the $49.99 sticker was right there), a brown bubble coral frag for $24.99 (sold as soft coral frag) and a massive piece of rock (one of their $40 XL pieces) for free because the employee couldn’t get the emerald crab off of it so they just gave me the rock. I’m usually to late to talk with a manager about special orders though

Found me a nice fangtooth blenny at Petco 2 months ago. Not my pic but I got to watch my hand now in the water.

I'd never ask them to order me one, but if I ever saw a Gig, Mag, or a Mertens in a Petco I'd have to buy it. I just wouldn't be able to resist.
