Hello, I have a problem with keeping my PH above 8 despite high Alkalinity. It is usually around 7.8 in the morning dropping to 7.6 at night. I have used Seachem Reef Buffer few times which got my ph to 8.2 but never for longer than a week. I would like to keep the ph in the range of 8.2 - 8.4.

Water Parameters:
Ammonia 0 ppm
Nitrite 0 ppm
Nitrate 5 ppm
Phosphate 0.15
Calcium 460
Magnesium 1400
Alkalinity 11.5 dkh
Temp. 25.5 C

Any idea what can I do to bring it up and keep it stable?

Be careful with pH buffer. How old is your tank? New tanks struggle with low pH for the first year usually. If your big 3 are in line pH really doesn’t matter to much anyways.

The tank is only 3 months old

Don't chase with PH buffers...

When your lights are on the organisms in your tank are preforming photosynthesis and converting co2 into oxygen.. At night the lights are off and and photosynthesis is no long occurring..

What causes low PH in a saltwater aquarium?
-Excess CO2 in your home is the most common cause.
– people and pets breathing in the house
– CO2 reactors
-Carbon dosing

My PH is low.. How can i raise it?
– Open a window to allow fresh air into your home
– Increase surface agitation by pointing power-heads towards the surface to promote gas exchange
– Run an air intake line for your skimmer or airpump outside to draw in fresh air
– Raising your Alkalinity level can also raise your PH
– Install a small PC fan into your cannopy to allow fresh air into the tank
– Leave part of your sumps cabinet open to allow more gas excahnge
– Use a wooden air-stone at night (Micro bubble scrubbing) which I run at night.
– Co2 scrubbing media on your Skimmer intake
– Run a refugium on a reverse light cycle
– If your using a CO2 Reactor – try adding a second chamber or add a drip cup to let the effluent off gas.

This is a good video to watch. Click link below.
