Hello,

Does anyone here plays piano? We are in the market of buying acoustic piano for our boys, currently have a digital. We are planning on these two, used Kawai K25 and new Yamaha U1- on sale but still pricey.
Does anyone here have these units, what's your experience?

I started at age 4 (1964 you old fart;)). My aunt was a piano teacher. I continued with them up to about age 16.

Hi there...I’ve been playing piano since the early 70’s, when my parents bought a Kimbell upright. Although I hated to practice when I was in elementary school, I learned that a few of my friends also played piano, so I started to accept the need for practicing often. College days showed me that folks appreciated someone who could play and sing, so I stuck with it all my life.

I’ve played both models you mention, and would choose the Yamaha U1 of given the choice, but either would be great for your boys. When our boys were still toddlers, we bought a used Kohler & Campbell baby grand, for about the same price as a used Yamaha U1. Sure it doesn’t have the big commercialized name, but like a Jaebo return pump or wave maker, it gets the job done and sounds pretty good, too.

For either make/model you choose, please make sure you or your boys play it or have someone selling it play it, to see if you actually like the sound. Set a strict schedule for getting it tuned, and you’ll never be disappointed in the piano. Then set a strict practice schedule around their homework schedule, and you’ll have beautiful music in your home quite a bit.

It’s just like a vinegar solution bath schedule for your Jebao pumps! :)

Hey John - howya doin? It's about 3 degrees hotter than pig snot here and the wife has decided that this weekend is the big outside redo.

I play piano. I have a 1936 Baldwin Model M. I am a big fan of restored vintage pianos. The Baldwins are especially nice and a nice restored piano is usually cheaper than a brand new one and sounds way better than the new ones ever could (unless you were to buy a Steinway). I have no experience with the pianos you mention, but if you haven't already, consider a used piano. Buy from a store that specializes in vintage instruments and be sure to sit down a play a few.

Doin well man, hotter than the gates of hell here for a few days as well.
Just finished going through Cindys parents house so the estate auction people can get in and do their thing so she can get the house(s) sold and move out here finally. :)

My neighbors have an late 1800's Beckwith upright concert grand that I've been thinking about buying and restoring for years.
Incredible old piano.
