Just recently borrowed a nikon dslr from a friend and I am having a hard time getting the settings correct.

This is my first time at using a camera and I'm trying to learn as much as I can.

So currently my settings are at ISO 100 F5.6 1/20 shutter speed

My pictures are all coming out too dark

What should the correct settings be to get a brighter picture?

This is with the 18-55mm lens and I also have the 55mm-200mm lens but when I try those on everything is blurry and I can't get it to focus

Thanks in advance for all the help

I would agree that bumping up the ISO can help. If you are using RAW image files you can also do some adjustments in a photo editor to lighten the photo.
