Plate coral?

Have had this what I believe to be a plate coral. It initially had some green tentacles sticking out for a few days but I have had it now for about 3 weeks. It looks really “meaty”, but no TD tacle action. Any thoughts?? Never had one before.

It’s lower lighting and flow. Maybe 100 par at most. I had it on the sand bed originally and I was recommended to move it off the sand. Nitrates about 11, alk approx 8.4, phosphate approx 0.07. S.G. 1.026

Everything seems alright, If you don't mind me asking why did you have to move it off the sand? I also noticed its near a few other corals would it be getting stung?

I've had mine on the sand for years.....

And I was about to say before I read the above comment, make sure that red goni doesn't touch it

I initially thought it was best to be on the sand but asking for advice at the LFS, they mentioned get it off the sand because the sand was probably irritating it. The Goni definitely has not been touching it and it has only been in the tank a week. The missing tentacles started way before that. Maybe i will move it back to the sand and see what happens. I really liked the green tentacles and that is why i got it. Just been hoping they would come back. I spot feed it once or twice a week.

That seems like a good start to recovery just ensure it receives decent flow on the sand bed if it doesn't the sand can become an irritant. The good news is the tissue seems to still be intact, Have you considered dosing amino acids to the tank. Also how often do you do water changes or do you dose some trace elements?

I do water changes with aqua forest reef salt, approx 10% every week. I dose a bit of Red Sea iodine, magnesium, and alk. I also use Red Sea AB+ about 3 times a week. I can see the tissue moving a bit from the flow but not too strong. Actually starting to see a few of the green tentacles but just barely.

not Fungia. I can't really tell for sure what genus it is, but I believe it's Cycloseris.

I see spots of tissue recession on the plate.
What are your parameters?
How much flow and light does this coral get?
I'd definitely keep it on the sandbed, always look awkward on the rocks, not where they're meant to be.

Info on that thread is wrong. Difference between Fungia and Cycloseris actually has to do with septal characteristics, not the presence of a stomal arch
