i have to write this fast
So had the pp 4 weeks now no problem ......
He eats fresh tiger prawns chunks daily healthy happy . 3 days ago I saw 3 white spots on each of his eyes and thought it’s just white spot because my powder brown got it again and has it . And I was already in the process of treating all my fish for white spot .....got a uv sterilizer etc.
yesterday morning his eyes became cloudy completely white.
He has strength and was still eating then but couldn’t see so the other fish started picking on him
and I saw the other fish biting on his spines
And nipping at him
as soon as I saw and it was more than a few nips stopped it immediately
I removed my pp into the sump to get some peace and hopefully to recover .
Since seeing the cloudy eyes I did 2 water changes 40% each over 2 days
Now I came to check on him an hour ago and
1)his fins apear to be melting
2)his skin on his back is peeling off and
3)I see white flesh on the edges of the peeled part
Also one eye is half cleared up (not so white)
And the other eye has like a white ball imbedded half in and half out his eye in the centre and it’s still cloudy .......
I’ve attached some pictures please help !!!
His name is igmedio
He is very special
And he’s not a typical porcupine puffer
He’s a type of puffer with spines
Forgot what though I have it written down somewhere I’ll look
Please help igmedio or igmei

I don't have much experience with puffers but to help other members, what size tank do you have and how long has it been running? Also, posting some parameters of the tank will help, did you QT the fish, etc.

You're testing ammonia, it would appear your tank may have gone through another cycle as a cycled tank should show 0 ammonia. Most likely caused by reusing your old sand. What happens is alot of trapped detritus and dead organics get caught in your sand bed, and when you disturb that (transferring from one tank to another) it's all released into your water. I'm not 100% on the symptoms of ammonia burn, but it may be part of the problem. Are all the other fish ok?

There was no spike my test kit has read 0.25 for the last 10 months on both tanks I think it’s a false reading tbh
ati testkit I use
Also a question I always stir up my sandbed every few days just to get rid of any diet on top is that bad ????
Thanks for your concern all fish are doing very well very happy eating they
formed a close bod with each other
They go as a group and swim round together and they love to do tricks when I’m around my vlamingi swims upside down .

The fish is stressed from the tank transition, I would suggest treating the system with vitamin C to reduce the stress on the fish and corals.

I am also surprised you have a porcupine puffer in a mixed reef tank, as porcupine puffers are not reef safe?

Puffers are particularly sensitive to ammonia, and cloudy eyes are a common issue in weak or sick puffers as I believe I see.

Not sure on the rest but the eyes may well be an infection. Pealing skin typically brook. Are the clowns showing any symptoms?

I would highly recommend getting an ICP-OES test done so you can just get a full-spectrum insight into anything that you may not be familiar with. https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/icp-oes-testing-kit-triton-1.html is one place to get it but if your lucky there might be some researchers locally that have this equipment. If your trying to speed up the process and don't want to wait for the test kit to arrive to you...you can go to your local store and pick up a small container like a urine sample jar and then just send it in... you'll actually save some money this way and its what I do.
