I am in the process of changing a bunch of my tanks around in the basement and I was wondering about the drain line from my display to sump. If I increase the drain size from 1.5" to 2" on the way to the sump is there any added benefit to doing this or no?

Thanks in Advance.

Only if your using a larger bulk head too. The larger the drain is the more space for air to accompany the water going down the quieter the drain. Your tank will also be able to handle more flow. But if your your bulkhead is 1.5 and you enlarge the pipe size to 2" after it, you won't benefit much if any IMO.

That is what I thought but I was just double checking! Kind of made I didn't drill my tank for a 2" drain!!! Oh well next time!
