Proud Navy veteran, and Gold Star family member. My husband died from disease caused by Agent Orange, and my uncle died in WWII. I'm a life member of the DAV, PVA, and Gold Star Wives of America.
US Navy 1955 to 1959. Served aboard the "Oldest and the Boldest" at the time, the USS Essex CVA-9.
Didn't know it at the time but it was some of my best memories.
I served in the Louisiana Army National Guard from 99' to 07' with the 1/244th Aviation Battalion as a 91B/91W Medic. We were activated in 03' for an 18 month trip to Camp Anaconda in Balad, Iraq.
It was a fun time in my life. Got to work with and meet lots of great people. Plus, I got to fly around Iraq in UH-60's on Uncle Sam's dime. Lol
Never forget! Prayers for all of those who made the ultimate sacrifice and never got to come home to be with their loved ones.
