On that’s beautiful! Do you have the plans for this? I am looking to get hubbs to build similar for my 40 breeder and this is perfect!

Thanks! I just used a router, drill bits, hole saws, and jig saw using random circular items as a patterns.
Multi purpose. Allows the under tank portion to breathe as well.
It's a very cool look. A little breathing is definitely a good thing.

I have an Aqueon stand for my 50 gallon fresh and the red sea stand that came with my reefer.

I am not a builder or even own tools, and I don't trust my abilities to build something, so store bought it is. If I were to ever go large then I would likely pay someone to build me a stand as I wouldn't trust the mass produced ones as much with a very large tank.

I stick with the stand of the same manufacturer as the tank for warranty and stability reasons. The stand was made for that specific tank.

Having said that, I never go with the "standard" offering. I know they are usually cheaply made, and have had & seen extensive water damage on some stands, so I go with the manufacturers high end stands.

I personally like a custom built wood stand since so I have better WAF and it fits into the decor in my house. She did let me get away with an open aluminum frag tank stand though.

I have always built my stands myself out of wood. I am in the process of getting a larger tank than I have ever had and decided to have a steel stand built for it. I will wrap it myself.

DIY wood stands for me - even for big tanks. Cheaper, stronger, just as attractive. Only downside is voiding of tank warranties. I use my own design that uses microlams made from glued strips of plywood for the horizontal members. Flatter and stronger than dimensional lumber, and doesn't move.

Curious what your preference is when considering a new tank stand? Do you prefer to use the factory stand for that seamless look? Do you have one built custom for you needs? Do you prefer to build your own? Lastly, what material do you prefer?

Let's see what folks are doing when it comes to their stands.
I built mine out of stainless steel and aluminum almost done with the matching canopy

I had a great time designing the stand and picking out scrap granite for the top....expensive though. Wish I was better with woodworking...
