Angels could definitely cause little to no pe but it could be something else if it was going on before. It sounds to me like you’re stripping your water and your alk is too high. I keep my alk around 8.3, no3 is 25 and my po4 is 0.25 (not 0.025). Or you could have too much flow. I have 2 mp 40s on my 50 gallon cube but they are on synch to a 7 second gyre at 20%.

well before i had NO3 at 25-40 PO4 was also high and i slowly lowered because i was having algea issues and no PE. but lowering hasnt solved it. my mag is pretty low so i just got it in the program to start dosing some mag. well see if that helps

How does magnesium affect PE? I’ve noticed some of my corals PE going down, but I’ve also increased PAR so figured they were reacting to a that. I tested my magnesium at 1200ppm yesterday. Is that too low?

Not all that sure, but if i had to guess something to do with balancing ALK and calcium. I tested mine last night and found out after testing 3 times to be sure i was at 1100... which is a bit low tested everything today as i got a new test kit.

My stylo is looking a bit better, will see how it looks in another week or two!

NO3- 5ppm
P04- .5 (which i accidently put wrong amount on here before)
DKH- 9.8
Cal- 450
MAG- 1280
SG- 1.026
Temp-77

I had lamarks and tiger tail coral beauty that were both nippers I still had PE. They destroyed welso and like corals, but acro’s would temporarily retract polyps and within a few minutes go back to normal. At night PE was intense when angels were “sleeping”. Have you checked to see if you have PE at night?

ok so ive still been struggling with PE. i know sometimes its good not to have any. but some of the sps i buy are for the color contrast between polyps and tissue... I FINALLY re-homed my lemon peele to my other tank. It’s only been 3-4 days, if that was the culprit how long until i start seeing PE would you guess? Another question is it harder to achieve good PE with a DSB?

Eventually, it will tap away at you like Chinese water torture. You love the sticks, you want to see those beautiful polys, the tank gets drained the Angel goes. I love angels but not in my sps tank!

He seemed to have more interest in everything by my sps, but everyone else said it could be nipping when im not around. So i took him out now im just wondering if he was the issue how long untill my sps is happy enough to have PE? Of that was even the issue to begin with...

Your tank sounds too clean with all that crazy stuff going on in the sump honestly. Best advice all sps keepers have given me is to KISS. I run nothing in my sump but a skimmer and fuge. Run high nitrates ~25 and 0.10 phos. No carbon, no bio blocks, no floss.

I feed pretty heave only reason why i have ATS and fuge... i do have a bio block... i kind of forgot about it otherwise its just a skimmer, and UV. GFO and carbon have been offline for a couple months. maybe ill ditch the block clean out the bottom of the sump and see what happens my nitrates and phos went up but have been stable since this thread was started

Are you running filters socks?

I’d recommend increase feeding and ditch the filter socks.
