Live Rock Users - Let’s see your tanks that you built using actual real Live Rock! Whether it’s an old school tank with Fiji LR or KP Aquatics FL LR I want to see your reefs! While I appreciate Dry Rock I just want to see pics from Live Rock Builders.

Post em Up!

I spent nearly two months staring at all the animals jumping out of my LR before I put any corals or fish in.
Its the coolest part of getting quality live rock. All the little creatures and stuff that is on there. I always wait a few months if not more so that all that stuff can come back strong. If you want to really bring it out, dose live phyto daily

Just a temporary tank to keep the rock alive. Good friend on here threw me some frags so I can start working on the art of keeping water and thus a marine ecosystem. So far so good. Here are some close ups

not great pics. But yeah. It should be noted the tank has only been wet for 2 weeks and the corals have only been in a week. I’m seeing grown on some and others which shouldn’t be thriving with the light I’m using right now haven’t died off and have even gained a little color.

Live rock is worth getting. Even if it’s a small amount (I have 32lbs which will be added to my 120 once it’s set up). The sheer delight of discovering new life every day is argument enough in my mind. But, I’m a nerd with this stuff. More practically the microfauna diversity that such rock can inject in your system is priceless

I can’t wait for my 310 to be ready for water and rock here in the next month or two.. I plan on going through KP Aquatics for at least 60-80lbs of live rock from them. Might get a small order from salty bottom gulf live rock also and then use dry rock for the rest. I’d love to fill the entire 310 gallon with live rock but that’s just too expensive

I've been cycling my tank for 2 weeks now with dryrock, I'm thinking of getting some live rock from the LFS and dropping it in - kick starting the process. I've read so much negative stuff about live rock with hitchhikers and algae I'm hesitant. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

More recent pics. Haven’t messed with the tank beyond putting nori in, picking up frags that were nocked over, topping up, and a WC.

KP is what I'm going with once the tank is ready. It's expensive but based on extensive research it's the best of the best. I would never touch dry rock for obvious reasons.
