Was the package ever scanned in at all? Even where the package was dropped off? ALWAYS ask for a receipt when dropping off a package. This forces them to scan the package even at UPS and FedEx. If the package was never scanned then insurance is voided because it looks like the package was never dropped off, if the label was printed from a home computer.

If I remember correctly, you have 45 days to claim with paypal. However, I am not sure that means business days or calendar days. Any how, this weekend should be plenty of time left. Also ebay will take care of you...

I'm happy he's emailed daily and I'm not overly stressed that I can't wait for a bit to see if it shows up. Just so many bad stories about the usps it makes you wonder when's too long to wait lol they told me it's not lost till it's over 21 days that seems too long before opening a claim thru PayPal.

I find it interesting that the seller wouldn't insure such an expensive package. Did you check the sellers ratings? What exactly does the tracking say? Is it just label created. Just because he went into the store doesn't mean it was dropped off at that time. Also just because the seller is keeping in contact with you doesn't mean that he's not the source of the problem. Scammers will often respond so that people don't think they have been scammed. Don't wait to long to file the paypal claim. It's the sellers fault for not insuring the package.

Yeah I don't deal with new or bad reviews of sellers. The place has over 12k positive feedback rating 100% eBay gold sellers figure wait the weekend out n if not here by Saturday Monday morning I'm opening a claim.

If there were no scans, that is bizarre. When he dropped the camera off at the USPS location, it gets scanned immediately and he gets a receipt.

Ask him if he has a receipt. Pretty weird for there to not even be a location scan. Sounds fishy to me at this moment.

Hopefully you get your camera! From my experience with PayPal, if it wasn't scanned in at all they will see it as the shipper never shipped it and issue a refund. If it was scanned in then lost, they will say insurance should have been purchased.

Ya it's all about that initial scan . You can get a tracking number and all at the house it's that initial scan that matters . That's why when I ship I don't even mess around I have them print my labels and scan on the spot . Walk away with a receipt

But swears it's shipped n lost and I know they make mistakes so was giving the benefit of doubt. But I'm also skeptical they'd received it without a scan.

So according to the page only a shipping label was created. It was either never picked up from the sellers house or it was never dropped off at the post office.

Scammers will try to make you feel guilty for them. They don't care. What is their selling history? Do they sell a lot of the same stuff? Be sure that when you report them that you report them to both paypal and eBay. I do a lot of disney pin trading through Facebook so, I ship out a lot of items through USPS and they always scan the item upon initial pick up to confirm it was received by them.

That is not proof he shipped it. Anyone can create labels all day long. Paypal will give you a refund for sure. As you have stated, its fair to allow the shipper a little time to correct the issue or at least attempt to correct it. It may start tracking, if it does its probably because he hasn't shipped at this point but only created the label. I wish you luck!

Did the seller put any tracking on the package and insurance? I will never send anything through any package service without insurance and tracking.

I used to sell a ton of eBay back in the day. I learned that a person can receive their package (non-tracked) and just say they never received it due to USPS issues. Then you are sitting there for months with an open claim to get some funds back.

this happened to me. when selling something always keep that receipt or even better sign up with usps that ways you've always got it.

I've opened a case for refund and waiting to hear from eBay and PayPal now. The seller asked me to wait another week and I am done waiting. It's one thing if it was ever scanned as received by usps but they can't prove it was anything more then a label created.

Weird he would ask you to wait another week. If I was the seller and also thought it was lost I would def lwt you make a claim without telling you to wait longer. Something doesn't add up

I had something similar to this happen with a lens I bought from Japan. I'm not a big fan of buying things over seas to begin with, but the lens was only available from someone from there. So I decided to go with it. 99% of the time I've had things ship within a reasonable amount of time from that region. 30 days go by with no word on shipping update. I filled a claim and won the case as the seller wanted me to wait. I would not have been protected if I had done so had something occur.
Turns out, the lens was truly shipped. I bought it in January and actually received it in August. By then, I had already bought another one had fortunately showed up in the states. I wasn't expecting any packages to arrive and was quite surprised when I received it. I opened it and sure enough it was the lens. I sent a message to the seller telling him I'd send him his money back, but I never received a return message. I waited about a month and eventually resold the lens.

From way I'm understanding it you now have 21 days to file a claim and we're at 17 days I wouldn't be able to file if I wait another week. Took a week to get the label created. Then we're over a week since supposedly dropped to usps. So feel they just trying to get past the time limits to file a claim.

There's a pay after delivery option on PayPal. I've bought a few things in the last month and they withdrew the funds 14 days after the purchase date.

Definitely file a PayPal claim, sounds like a scam. sounds like a unfortunate situation
