Currently I’ve got an mp10 in my tank with another jbj powerhead, the jbj is more or less at the end of its life and I feel my tank would benefit from some more flow.

My thoughts were either replacing my mp10 with an mp40 in the same location, or adding another mp10 possibly on the other side? Or is the mp10 adequate?

I’m leaning more towards the mp40 as it would be cleaner but wanted some other opinions. My tank in question is a 57G deep blue rimless. Dimensions are 36x18x20 and the mp10 is currently turned up 100%

I personally switched my MP40's for the icecap gyres. I fell in love with those.

Whit that said if you are in the Market for MP40 i have 2 for sale and a backup battery and I'm about 30 minute drive away from you ;)

I'ld just add another MP10. A pair of MP10s would easily cover your tank.

I used 2 MP10’s, opposite ends, when I had my 40 gallon. I have a RSR 425xl (88 gallon) and have 2 MP40’s, opposite ends and a IceCap Gyre 1000 on the center back wall. I think what type of corals you want to grow should be considered. I have SPS corals in my tank that like lots of flow

As far as corals I’m planning for some sps, but also like zoas and acans as well. Looks like another mp10 may be the best option

MP10 is pretty wimpy IME. For a 57 I’d go with one or even two MP40.

Sorry, didn’t see your response about corals before a said it was a good start. SPS need flow. I almost lost a birdsnest when I moved from the 40 to the 88. I started with only one MP40 (glass was to thick for the mp10). I got another MP40 to put on the opposite side and it came back

Update:

Opted for a new mp40, definitely a huge improvement and flopped the mp10 over into my smaller cube. Weighed my options and the vortech stuff is just so simple and the no cords in the water thing is a much cleaner look. As well as simply replacing wet sides when they go bad as opposed to an entire powerhead
