Spent time last night around the property.
My wife and daughters horses take a lot of MY time these days.
For the equestrians here.
My wife has a Ex-Amish Draft Mule- used and abused her whole life but the biggest cuddly love bug @1800 lbs
My daughter has a Belguim Draft- currently getting 3 treatments a day due to him scratching his eye ball while eating and developed a corneal ulcer because it healed to quickly over bacteria that wasn't expelled- he is 1700lbs of tired ticked off attitude because I have to squirt 3 different medicines into his eye 3 times a day and he is stuck wearing goggles best that I can describe 70s ski goggles.
Then there is my horse -Lambo Joe- a 250lb dapple grey mini shetland.

All three of these guys plus another mini were pulled from Kill pens and rescues. They are on our property to live out their days and enjoy life and lots of cuddles and keep our vet and ferrier in business

Anyways after that took up a bunch of time I had about an hour of day light left, got some time in on my Jeep that I am slowly destr.... building,

Onto tank stuff- after dinner I finished the hard plumbing on my saltwater mixing station. Using a mag12 pump I had sitting around, probably a bit overkill but will have to pump from mixing station to tank approx 60ft and 6ft of head. Been trying to get this mixing station together for weeks. Tired of mixing salt water and finally going to run the rodi. been using straight well water and think that is what may have cause the crash a couple months back. I think a neighbor did a chlorine treatment to their well and we are on the same water table.

Got some water in it and fire up the pump to find a bad o-ring and the face plate leaking. 1 step forward /2 back.

Ordering up a new face plate and o-ring today.

Still need to plumb the rodi into the Freshwater side via float valve, drill for a 1/4 bulkhead for ATO feed.

I love jeeps, Xjs specificly but tired of lifted rigs. This one will eventually get jag IFS and IRS with bags and a sbc/5speed swap.

When I read "Jeep" I was like, "That's problems." Then I saw XJ and felt more comfortable as I am not a huge fan of the newer ones. I've known a few people that have owned them and experienced a lot of problems. As a matter of fact, a woman my wife works with just traded in her 2021 Compass. It was nothing but a headache.

My last jeep was a 89 grand wagoneer with a Cummins 12v /5speed I swapped in. Really wish I would have kept it. Hated the wheels but they were one the donor truck I got the axles from

Nothing important got done on the tank this weekend.

Just fed, cleaned skimmers, rotated the chaeto, added water to ATO and cleaned the glass.

I did order a new faceplate and o-ring for the Mag12 for the mixing station. That should be here tomorrow.

Will try to test the tank tonight. only concerned with Nitrates and Phos currently. Hopefully see it coming down slowly with the changes I have made. Still need to adjust my lights and ad a some more red, wanting to see if I can grow more algae (not gha or cyano) and if that helps with bringing down nutrients.

Well yes. That is part of the Daily important list of things to do. I guess i was meaning from the list of crap I still need to do/setup.
Actually Blimpy makes sure he gets feed. He wont let myself or my wife walk by the tank without spitting at us if I forget a feeding or if I am taking to long to give him his dinner once he sees the cup with his shrimp thawing.

So I had planned on selling my apex stuff off eventually and switch over to hydros.
I have an extra A2 brain sitting here. I think I am going to pick up a temp probe and salinity probe and install them on the Mixing station. Eventually I would like to find another power bar so I can monitor and control the pump and heater.

I had planned on a fully automating the mixing station with the hydros eventually and still might but for now having the ability to monitor it will be nice

Last time I looked, they had an EC/TDS probe. I cannot recall the connector type used on it though.

I will check it out. My Salinity in the DT stays pretty consistent with the ATO and I still weekly check it via refractometer. I may for the time being just transfer the conductivity probe and my display readout(just sits in the cabinet) to onto the mixing station for the time being to see if I actually use it.

Might be able to get the mixing station up today. New faceplate and o-ring for the mag12 should be showing up today. Hopefully spend time to get the RODI plumbed in and float valve installed and will at least get my spare Apex A2 mounted. On the hunt for a power bar to ad on

got a question for people that run mixing stations

This is my first full mixing station. I plan to do Water changes weekly with this for now.
I plan to keep RO always full as this will be my ATO reservoir also, pump RO to the salt side , ad salt and let mix with heat to get to proper salinity etc.

But then what? Mixing station is in our utility / laundry room on the back of the house. This room does not have heat.

Do you turn your heater and pump off and let it sit for 5 days, night before your water change kick pump and heater back on, make sure the mix is good and use it come Saturday morning?
Do you keep it circulating and heated for the week?

Eventually I will start doing 2G Daily water changes so I will be mixing and then transferring to a 50G drum next to my tank. In that drum I plan to keep a small powerhead and a small heater.

any suggestions would be great. I don't really want to run a mag12 full time and a 300w heater to keep mixing station warm all week. Only pro to this is in case of emergency I can do a water change immediately and not have to wait for it to warm up.

edit/add- once up and going I may ad a small powerhead to the saltwater side that keep it circulating in enough to keep warm with a appropriate heater and may wrap the drum with a hot water heater insulation kit or something. it gets cold in that room. may be best of both works and then the night before I do a big water change I kick on the main pump and make sure its 100% ready to go.
