Protien skimmer help please! Asap

my skimmer is foaming too much and coming out the top? Is it because of the buffer I just put in? And when should I beable to open the skimmer back up to normal because I had to turn the air valve down to make it quit foaming so is basically just running water through it now and is there any thing I can do to prevent this? Is a seaclone 100 ran fine for a week untill now.

What "buffer" did you just put in? Certain additives make skimmers go nuts.

I doubt that will cause it to foam like that, you sure you havent put anything else in.

That's it other than some new coral pieces and an anemone. Oh and microVert by Kent marine 2 times a week

First of all 8.0 ph is fine, do not dose for ph , ph fluctuates normally on its own anyway. as far as the skimmer, i would not turn the bubbles off, I would keep it on and just lower the water level in the skimmer , so the bubbling starts at around the neck of the foaming tube in the skimmate reservoir.

oh have you recently added more water to the aquarium, if you raise or add more water to the aquarium the water level in the skimmer will also raise to the point of it over flowing.

No it is at the same water level. And it is a hang on the back one and nothing really moves on it.

8.0 is fine for PH. Leave it alone [emoji4] It's only when it drops/raises to numbers that are unacceptable and stays there that you need to worry.
The buffer has caused your skimmer to go crazy, many chemicals will do this to a skimmer.
Try unplugging it for 2-4hrs.
