I assume that you meant
Synchiropus picturatus. Its not a goby - it is a fish that belong to the family Bleninidae. Never the less - in an aquarium both your old and new fish inhabit the same ecological nish - they are both benthic with the difference that the two spot goby (
Signigobius biocellatus) prefer sand and the other rockwork. You old fish se your new as an intruder and tries to consolidate its supremacy. Because that two spot goby is a sand dwelling fish and relies on protection through camouflage and looking like a larger fish - the two dots - it is an easily stressed species that is very difficult to establish in an aquarium. I have succeeded to establish another type of sand dwelling fish - probably from the genus
istigobius in an aquarium there it was an established individual of scooter blenny -
Synchiropus ocellatus - since many years.
The way I introduce my sand-dwelling species was through an adaption box for 1 week. IMO - the use of an adaption box when introducing new fish is more or less mandatory - I do it easy - use an old Guppy breeder box and two magnets (and a cover). The reason is - IMO - the new fish should have the same "smell" as the old fish before introduction - never the less you use QWT or not. Since I start with this - I have very few losses when fish are introduced
