hey randy,

ive got a simple (to you more than likely) academic question pertaining to peroxide.

if i have 3% hydrogen peroxide that we get over the counter. i also have a 5 gallon bucket of salt water.

how much hydrogen peroxide would i need to raise it to 25 or 50ppm?

this has to deal with research on marine velvet and how to apply it in our own aquariums.

5G of Saltwater + 31.5ml of 3% h202= 50PPM

5G of Saltwater + 15.75ml of 3% h202= 25PPM

i put 10ml 3% peroxide in to 5 gallons for 1 hour. this is based on experience. not science.

i wanted to see what was safe for 30 minutes with these doseages

in other words... this is a "gut" feeling vs science

Yes, that is correct.

3% hydrogen peroxide contains 30 milligrams per mL.

5 gallons of water is 18.93 liters.

So adding 1 mL per 5 gallons is 30 milligrams per 18.93 L, or 1.58 mg/L

If you want 50 mg/L, then you need 50/1.58 = 31.6 mL. :)
