My colony is under Kessil A360we's, mid-level in tank = moderate lighting. I do not have ultra-low nutrient system. I run chaeto, some carbon, GFO, skimmer, and that's it. It is a slow-grower for sure, but grows steadily and shows nice color when parameters are constant.

What are your nutrient levels and par for the PM ?

Regards,
Abhishek

Haven't actually measured PAR in my tank, but with the Kessils 10" above the surface it is probably not that high. Intensity goes up to 90%. I keep my PM ~8" below the water line, so 18" from the Kessils
Ca 420-450
Mg 1350-1400
ALK 7-8
Haven't measured phosphate or nitrates in years... :)

Nitrates are 5, po4s are .01, last around 400 on mine. I found flow to be a big factor in my 2 frags. One has died but the other is flourishing. This shot is from 3 weeks ago. I'll take another tonight.

I have both the Original PM and the later Imposter PM. Both grow very slow. I have them side by side, the shape of the corals are similar but the Original PM is more purple. My two frags are too small to really show base color (lower light color) yet. Definitely the Original PM is a more beautiful of the two.

Picture later this week.

What nuterient parameters do you guys keep your PM at ? I recently got mine - OG Tyree PM but wanted to know if it colors up only at very low nutrients.
I generally run fairly high nutrient by today's standard of nitrates 10 and phosphates at 0.03 - 0.10 with high PAR from radium halides and high flow.
Also, how long did it take for the PM to start coloring up. Mine is encrusting a little in a month or so but still no color.

Regards,
Abhishek

What the color of the polyps on the body and on the tips?

I have not polyps yet .. may be they come out at night but never saw any . It's encrusting within a month which shows it's settling down and currently at around 450 PAR of radiums .

Abhishek

Ah ok. Mine is mid way under ATI T5. Reason I asked is that when I ran it with high nutrient, polyps on the body would be green and the tips would be white. But under lower nutrients then all the polyps would be white and body would be lighter purple. I like the deeper color look with higher nutrients on this one. You can also see the sheen green looking on the body too depending on lighting which is kinda cool. Especially is it's straight actinic LEDs.

OG PM acquired in January of this year. Came from a ULNS with no fish in it. Nice white polyps on the terminal tips.

Here it is taken in late June, so about 5 months of growth in total. Lost the white polyps. Hopefully it comes back once this frag grows larger.
