The issue with either clamps is that the offset isn't enough to clear the large ring on a union. As mentioned in the BRS comments, simply use small blocks to offset whatever you might need. If I were to guess, small blocks of 1/2 to 3/4 inches would be enough.

From the picture on the site you linked to, I were oils say that there is not going to be enough clearance to be able place a union in the line with those clamps. The standard fitting looked like it just about touched the board in the one picture.

The idea above of putting spacer blocks behind these clamps is a good one. Also, if the surface you are mounting to is not a continuous flat surface, you could position the unions where there is an opening.

Whoa, I did not realize the price that BRS charges for these clamps, until you linked it. If you are looking for more than a couple, I would suggest keeping an on Ebay. I purchased 25 of the 1.5" clamps for $32.50.

Yea, I know, ridiculous right ! Was using it as a comparison only...always use online for plumbing, even the colored pipe.

Watching BRS 160 plumbing utube, it looks like he uses these clamps and he has unions in line...17:03 into it.. ...
