I’ve read that some people use separate nets, buckets, etcetera for their quarantine. My thought was always that if the equipment dries between maintenance anything on it would die so I have admittedly used tools from qt for my dt and am wondering if this is not safe and I need to get a second set. Thoughts?

I have a second set just because I’m paranoid
I can definitely understand why though. The amount of time, money, and care we invest in our tanks is enough to be worth the second set. That's probably why I am going to go for it. I don't really want to spend money on a second set or find a place to store it, but I also don't want to have to worry about whether or not there is any chance that I accidentally passed on an illness to my main tank. I wanted to hear others' opinions as well, but I'm almost positive I'm going to just go ahead and do it so I don't need to worry.
For me personally, my fish are very much my pets and I take it pretty hard if they get sick or do not make it. I know there are plenty of others on the forum that do not have the same emotional connection and I get that. But.... I'm a tree hugger, animal lover, bleeding heart softie and I'm okay with that :)

I use separate tools. Copper and other meds might be present in the water, and a net might not fully dry after using it in the QT before I need it in the DT. The small price to own separate tools is worth the peace of mind.

If you disinfect and dry your equipment it should be fine as long at it isn't a material that may absorb things(like wood) which may not effectively get disinfected and/or rinsed.
