hey so ive got a 20 gal long peacock mantis shrimp tank thats been running about a year, my question is can i plumb a second (slightly larger + taller) tank into it using dry rock + sand and have anemones do well in it?
ill be seeding it with a small amount of live rock from mantis tank, but should i still wait for the bacteria to develop over a few months or should i be ok to add bubble tip anemones in the first few weeks?

You can probably treat your new tank/ old tank combo as one, so it shouldn’t be any issues with cycling it, especially that BTA metabolism should be lower than fish.
You may though encounter some algae growth and quasi ugly stage in your tank, so I would wait a bit.
Few months ago I set up 20 gal frag tank, based on pieces of live rock from my other two, well established tanks and some dry rock. After 6 weeks I introduced new frags and now there is few of them and they are doing quite well.
