Question about hammer please

It looks like my hammer coral is growing new heads at the base but I thought they only divided... what's going on with this guy??

That looks right. You may be thinking about a split which they divide

So we're saying those are likely new heads? Or is it something I should be worried about?

They can "sprout" new heads from the sides. IME those heads often don't fully form.
