Question About Snail

I was at my local store and they had a Extra Large snail about the size of the center of your palm.
I went back to ask what kind of snail it was and the 3 that were working had no idea...
Does anyone have any ideas as to what id could have been... No not large mexican turbos.. lol

Kind of pyramid shaped? Like a large Astrea?

no it was not a common snail... not pyramid shaped.. not your usual cleanup crew

Would need a picture to know but it was likely a type of whelk(like the lightning whelk in my profile picture) or conch they tend to be larger.

Or a Tulip snail. I see those frequently.

Possibly could also be a moon snail if the shell is more traditionally shaped. Or a type of triton snail (very unlikely tho)

If it was kept with other snails(and didn't kill them) that would rule out whelks, tritons, and tulips.

Abalone snails can easily get to that size (these are Haliotis species)

Some cowries can also (live tiger cowrie and dead shell)

Abalone are reef safe algae eaters. Most large cowries are generally not considered reef safe because they often like to eat sessile invertebrates like soft corals, sponges, and tunicates.

Nothing wrong with it, just looks like some miscellaneous algae if you want to remove it just use a toothbrush

I don't see anything wrong there, if you are talking about the discoloration, that's likely just new shell growth.
