I have one or two questions. First the huge coral that I am calling a Xenia, Is it really a Xenia?. I have the one that pulsates this one simply flows.

Second it has white at the tips of some of its branches has anyone seen this before?

I am also trying to prune it becauseit is really spreading. I posted pictures below.

My anenome has changed overnight. Is it trying to split the top part is attaching to a rock. I have atttached a picture of how anome used to look 2 days ago.

They look like clove polyps to me. They can be very invasive. I would advise getting rid of the whole rock that they are on.

Yes I looked at pictures. That is waht they are thanks! Is it toxic to cut them?

I'm sure any coral has a was to protect itself. As mentioned in your other thread, have you looked to see if you can peel them off from the base?

Those are xenias. I had the same stuff before.

You can frag the xenia (or just toss it out...or start a new nano tank :) ) by peeling it from the base using a stiff flare edge....even an old credit card might work depending on how tightly attached it is. After you get it peel back enough just cut the flap off with either an exacto knife...or even a pair of shears. Be careful about losing some polyps into the water column as each on will create a new colony.

The white tips are actually portions of the x nia that's shriveled due to stress. They will come back and unfold. However, if all the branches start wilting, your xenia may be dying and melting...

As for you BTA, if you did a hard clean and significant water change, it may be splitting due to stress from it...

Btw, xenia are not toxic...but they do stink... think onion breath

I'd have to say the top pic is xenia probably a non-pulsing variety IMHO
