So we all know a significant drop in Alk is bad. But what happens lets say you boost up the Mag. This causes a drop of 7.20 to 6.90 in 2 hours and then you boost back up the Alk over the course of the Day. In otherwords, does the drop in Alk have to be sustained for days or is a temporary drop and then backup over a day harmful and stressful?

That drop is so small I’d consider it within my normal latest error and not a concern for the animals.

Randy Quick question on dosing mg... mine hangs at 1250 without any supplementation ..
What are the benefits of having it a bit higher at 1300 lets say .

Probably no harm and little benefit. Might be a bit less abiotic calcium carbonate precipitation. Some folks think their corals do better at higher levels. I do not know if that is generally true or not.
