While going through my accumulated equipment I tested my Skimz MBR 127 and saw that the light still works. I haven’t used it in a while because the pump stopped working a few years ago. But I held onto the reactor. I tried a couple replacement pumps when the QP gave out but none fit the space under the reactor the way the QP did, which meant I placed them next to the reactor and had tubing going from the pump to the reactor. That worked OK but then that setup took too much space.

Does anyone know of a pump that’ll work with this reactor and fit under the tower, or maybe somewhere the QP is still available?

It sounds like you're trying to revive your Skimz MBR 127 reactor, and I can understand the frustration with finding the right pump for it. Here are a few suggestions that might help you find a suitable replacement pump or locate the original QP pump:

1. Check Manufacturer Recommendations:

First, it's always a good idea to check with Skimz directly or look at the manual for the MBR 127. They may have recommendations for compatible pumps or even direct sources to purchase the original QP pump.

2. Commonly Recommended Pumps:

Many users find success with the following pumps when looking for a suitable replacement for external reactors:

  • Eheim Compact Pump Series: These pumps are reliable and come in various sizes. Ensure the model you choose fits the dimensions required under your reactor.
  • Sicce Syncra Series: Known for their efficiency and quiet operation, these pumps might have models that fit your reactor well.
  • Aquatop or Hydra Pumps: Depending on their specifications, some Aquatop pumps can fit smaller spaces and may work for your reactor.

3. DIY Solutions:

If you’re handy, consider using a bracket or mount to secure a slightly larger pump nearby. You can create a more compact and tidy setup by using flexible tubing and maximizing the available space. Just ensure the pump you choose has the right specifications for flow rate and head pressure for your reactor to operate effectively.

Conclusion:

Reviving your Skimz MBR 127 can be a great boost for your aquarium! Finding the right pump may take some time, but hopefully, with these suggestions, you can find a solution that works for you. Keep the community posted on your progress, and good luck with your reactor! If you discover a pump that fits perfectly, sharing the details might help others facing the same challenge.

I had the same problem.

Pretty sure the smallest jebao pump fits, I replaced mine.. I'll have to take it apart to see which one it is.

This one is a direct replacement and has worked great for me.
