I’ve been offered one of these used at £175, just wondering if that would be sufficient to light a Red Sea 170 for SPS and possibly an anemone.

Also, what are the standout key features of this light, and how would it compare to say an AI prime 16HD

Most likely. Well, this is a 3rd generation LED - and we're currently on the 5th generation, so other than price there aren't really any standout features with it.

AI is owned by EcoTech so it's effectively the same company. Either light will work for your needs - you'll just get WiFi, phone/app support and warranty with a new AI Prime 16HD.

I would pass unless you can trust that person to know the exact amount of time it was used. These lights may have been used for 8 years continuously and leds only have so many years of lifespan, especially above a saltwater tank

I would opt for 2 16hds for the above gen3 opinions.
I run 2 16hds over my 18" nano cube with excellent results.
The 16s work off of bluetooth and only the gen 5's also.
The gen3 version does not.
A par meter may be able to tell you the strenght of the gen 3.

Unfortunately can’t afford two at the moment. Hopefully one would suffice until finances allow for a second one?

There are other options like the smatfarms led as well, which is a great budget lighting option and has proven results in peoples tanks. In the future a good upgrade would just be to add an led light bar (orphek, quanta, 21led, etc) to the smat farms led for more coverage.

maxspect jump led (or blue edition) would work as well and is a good light to check out, just giving you some other options to have
