I know the G4’s that we’re manufactured in 2017 or after are compatible with the new möbius but what about the ones that made in 2016?

The only way to be sure is look on Reef link or open it up and see what WiFi chip you have. I'm not sure if you can direct USB connect and see.

Reef link will tell you when you look at the equipment you have installed. there is a i with a circle for each item. That's the info. Click it and look at the bottom. It will say "mobius ready".

Got you. I don’t have the units yet as I will be picking them up used. Worse case, I will just use the old reeflink and control it with my current set up.

I think you are mistaken. I have a few that were made in 2017 and 2018 that are NOT mobius ready. All, including some from 2016, say mobius compatible.

Unless the rep from ecotech was smoking but I called a few weeks ago and was told that all my 2017 G4’s are compatible with the mobius app and no chips needed. Again, the ones I will be getting for my side tank are dated 2016. As long as they’re reeflink compatible I am ok but was just curious.

I have a G4 and 2 Vortech MPQ40s that display "Mobius Ready" on Reef Link … how do I swirch them from Reef Link to Mobius? Purchased a G5 … it linked to Mobius with no problem … just don't want to be running on two platforms.

I haven’t mess with it lately. I just let them run by reeflink. If you found out, let me know.

worse case scenario is that you will need to replace the RF chip. Upgrading them to work with mobius is as simple as downloading the firmware onto the lights, once available.
I haven’t done any search, what’s the advantage about mobius over reeflink?

Near as I can tell this is the only advantage to Mobius.
In Mobius you are communicating directly to the equipment via blutooth.
Reeflink is a long trail of connections. For instance, Phone>Reeflink webservers>back to reeflink in your house>to your equipment. Not to mention how many times your internet connection hops from one server to the next.
