Ok so I currently have a par38 bulb with a gooseneck clamp over my 10 gallon.

My problem is that the light just leaves the edges of the tank a bit darker than the rest of the tank.

How would I go about raising it higher?
The clamp is as high as it goes atm but I was wondering would a normal extension work ok?
Thanks.

Replace the gooseneck with a desk lamp - then you can adjust it up or down or wherever you please. You can also get a longer gooseneck. The whole point of a PAR38 is that it fits into a regular light bulb socket. You can get literally anything and it'll work. If you are feeling creative, go to Ikea or Crate and Barrel and get a nice desk lamp or pendant light fixture and put it in there.

I saw a tank in my area that had the par38 bulbs mounted inside japanese style hanging lanterns.
Looked very cool and funtional.
