Nice font color. ;)

What does it look like to you? I’ve been having problems with it defaulting to an invisible white. I reset it to what I thought was black. It looks black to me.

I’ve been having the same issue! The text looks short and white.

I use dark mode, so the text is usually white/gray.

Your text turned black lol

It is possibly a whelk. I am not great at telling the difference. From what I remember whelks have darker shells and dark mottled "siphons" judging by this pic I would say whelk, but I am not 100% on that and not all whelks are predatory. @ISpeakForTheSeas ? Hopefully they are around.
I'm late, but yeah, that's a whelk; my first thought would be possibly Gemophos tinctus, but I can't say for sure:
Gemophos tinctus - the Tinted Cantharus/Gaudy Lesser Whelk; they reportedly feed primarily on barnacles, but I wouldn't be surprised to find them eating clams too.

FWIW, it would be pretty simple to get a quality icp on both the tank, and on some ro only water after the tank has been running for a bit. Then I could clearly know if there was any concern from the ro only. :)
I did this. I also used an ICP to have my tap water checked before anything else as I couldn't fin any good city water reports for my area.

I Love the Tunze skimmers.
I run 2 9410dc's and 2 9430dc's.

I started with the 9410dc on my old 120. I replaced it after a year with the 9430dc.
Get an additional neck/cup. This make changing it simple.
Lift out the dirty and replace with clean. Don't need to turn it off either. I have extra cups for both the 9410 and 9430.

These skimmers require no adjustment. Has anti overflow and you don't need to turn it off when you feed.

My 9430dc in my 1 year old 150 has yet to be cleaned.

Note: I ran a 9410dc in my old 45 frag system. It had a well lit fuge. The barrel of the 9410 was completely covered in coralline. It did not affect the performance of the skimmer.

Make sure you check and clean the silencer as it builds up.salt and will restrict airflow over time.

Also get some pics of it running and enjoy!

Thanks. I’m using the foam extraction collecting into a salt bucket so I can collect for an extended period. :)

Both my tank and this thread have many purposes, one of which is learning. I certainly understand that the most conservative approach is to use only ro/di, and I did so for 20 years on my old tank. If done properly, it can never go wrong. I would advise anyone to use it, unless they have good knowledge of what is in their water and what impact it might have.

But if, as I suspect, my tank and some others can use ro only, then that is a useful thing to learn and for others to consider. Aside from the possibility of copper from my own pipes, nothing in the water report is even close to concerning to me. :)
Any concern that the water report is a snapshot in time and not a constant? Here in Iowa farm runoff varies with the rainfall and time of year.

Or concerns if they are flushing or doing maintenance on lines post testing location?

While not a huge risk using RO for your water it still seems to be a minor risk when the cost of DI isn’t high.

Fair point, but in this case it’s not an issue. I’ve looked over several and they are the same. They test monthly. The water comes from a very large reservoir that is surrounded by many square miles of protected land. In fact, I just hiked down to the lake a couple of weeks ago.

Any pictures of the full tank with the current live stock ? I would like to see how the freshwater blades look:)

Not yet, but soon. I’ll take them after the rock comes Thursday. I will say that I like the look. :)

Day 64

I’m going to start tracking days since the refugium was set up, and put together a live timeline for folks who might be interested in, say, how long after rock did you add that anemone, etc.

Day 1 Refugium Started
Day 37 TBS Live sand and base rock added
Day 45 Phyto dosing started
Day 45 Copepods added
Day 66 TBS premium rock and CUC crew (planned)

I’ll also be starting a stocking list to go along with the equipment list that I will post periodically.
