Im getting my first nem in a week or two.
Here's my tank stats.
25 gallon IM lagoon.
It's been running about 8 months.
20lbs of live rock. However this rock came out of a 300G system tear down that ran for about 6 years. And I purchased 20lbs of he rock. My light is the AI prime. Run it about 7 hours at 85% slowly gonna bump it up to 100%. After the sunset the blues and UV are at 50% for another 5 hours. Then lights out. I find I get major growth with this.
My nitrates do not go over 5PPM. Weekly water changes using IO reef crystals and Rodi water.
No ammonia or nitrite. I ordered calcium alk and phos tests waiting for those.
I run Purigen bag in 1 filter sock and Chemipure elite in another filter sock. I run chaeto with a reverse light cycle. From midnight til 6am. Sometimes I toss a bag of carbon in there when my corals are sliming from stress or fragging or whatever. Figured it'll soak up the chemicals they spew out.
Fish is stocked lightly. 2 tiny osc clowns. A fire fish. And a Royal gramma. And a coral banded who does not harm my coral but cleans them. He's not aggressive unless a fish tries to use his cave.
Corals. 3 frog spawns. 1 hammer. 1 octo. On an island. Adding a torch later.
Another island. GSP only.
Another island. Pulsing Xenia only.
I do not have stack rock work. More like solitary islands each having one species on each island.
I have one shelf like island rock far away from the others reserved for the rose bubble tip nem. I know they wander but I don't want it stinging my coral. And I really want it to stay on that rock. I chiseled it like a pedistal for the nem. With small hiding places in he back of it.
Any tips on keeping it on that island?
Like maybe a 2 liter coke bottle cut in half placed over it til it attaches it's foot. Or will that stress it out?
Can they cross sand? None of my rocks touch their all seperate so it can't rock jump unless it walks on the sand.
I have two spin streams installed with a JP1200 pump. And a 495 nano koralia. I plan on turning the koralia off til the nem attaches. And also setting it on a timer to turn off at night because I read that's when they wander the most. Spin streams should hold its own on the flow til it's settled.
Id like all the personal expirience tips I can get. Thanks!
