Im getting my first nem in a week or two.
Here's my tank stats.

25 gallon IM lagoon.
It's been running about 8 months.
20lbs of live rock. However this rock came out of a 300G system tear down that ran for about 6 years. And I purchased 20lbs of he rock. My light is the AI prime. Run it about 7 hours at 85% slowly gonna bump it up to 100%. After the sunset the blues and UV are at 50% for another 5 hours. Then lights out. I find I get major growth with this.

My nitrates do not go over 5PPM. Weekly water changes using IO reef crystals and Rodi water.

No ammonia or nitrite. I ordered calcium alk and phos tests waiting for those.

I run Purigen bag in 1 filter sock and Chemipure elite in another filter sock. I run chaeto with a reverse light cycle. From midnight til 6am. Sometimes I toss a bag of carbon in there when my corals are sliming from stress or fragging or whatever. Figured it'll soak up the chemicals they spew out.

Fish is stocked lightly. 2 tiny osc clowns. A fire fish. And a Royal gramma. And a coral banded who does not harm my coral but cleans them. He's not aggressive unless a fish tries to use his cave.

Corals. 3 frog spawns. 1 hammer. 1 octo. On an island. Adding a torch later.

Another island. GSP only.

Another island. Pulsing Xenia only.

I do not have stack rock work. More like solitary islands each having one species on each island.

I have one shelf like island rock far away from the others reserved for the rose bubble tip nem. I know they wander but I don't want it stinging my coral. And I really want it to stay on that rock. I chiseled it like a pedistal for the nem. With small hiding places in he back of it.

Any tips on keeping it on that island?
Like maybe a 2 liter coke bottle cut in half placed over it til it attaches it's foot. Or will that stress it out?

Can they cross sand? None of my rocks touch their all seperate so it can't rock jump unless it walks on the sand.

I have two spin streams installed with a JP1200 pump. And a 495 nano koralia. I plan on turning the koralia off til the nem attaches. And also setting it on a timer to turn off at night because I read that's when they wander the most. Spin streams should hold its own on the flow til it's settled.

Id like all the personal expirience tips I can get. Thanks!

My brother got his to stay on an island by placing a container over it until it got comfortable. Just make sure the container is clear (for light) and has plenty of holes. I think he used a ziplock container and cut holes.

Typically they like to get their foot into a crevice to anchor themselves.

I hope you're successful!

I stared mine on a rock in the sand bed then it made its way to the top of my rock work, so yes they will travel across sand.

Let the nem travel freely and do what it wants. It will find a comfortable place it likes and sit there. Hopefully you can move some corals otherwise it will sting them if they are in the way. I've heard of nems clinging to glass and traveling to power heads so make sure they are covered if you have any.

I have one koralia nano. How would I cover it? Filter floss around it with a rubber band? That'll look terrible. Maybe I can find black felt.

I was thinking cut a 2 liter Pepsi bottle in half and use the top end with the cap off maybe make some holes. And cover the island. Might be too small. Maybe a 3 liter. Or a water jug. But you get where I'm going. I was just worried about it being contained in a "bubble" stressing it.

It shouldn't stress it as long as there is enough light and water movement. Also it should get comfy within a few days.

I wish I would've thought of it before I added my BTA. Let us know what you decide and the outcome!

Even if you get it to attach to the rock you want, it can still travel. sometimes they detach and go floating around your tank. I'd cut the flow, place it where you want it and leave it for a while until it attaches. you can cover your powerhead but it can still kill your nem via suction. there's really no guaranteed plan with nems, just luck.

For me, I've found the best way to get a nem where you want it to be is to put its foot in a crack/hole. For some reason they love this and many times will not relocate.

In my experience, they will end up where they want to be, which often is not not where they start and probably not where you'd like. You may get lucky and it stays on your dedicated island and I'm hoping it does. But heed the advice above and cover your powerhead(s) just in case.

I agree, they wander weirdly and seemingly unprovoked.

I haven't gotten the nem yet. Still coming up with ideas. So far everyone gave me great ideas. The panty hose. Black won't even show but it'll be full of crud.
I have this plastic needle point canvas I can wrap around it and rubberband or Ziptie. Or. They have this black foam for the fluval edge I can cut and wrap around. It's only that one koralia.

Now I have overflow type slits at the top corners. Those need to be covered. Probably use that needle point stuff again there. It's pretty fine. Needles go thru it lol.

I plan on putting the koralia on a timer to shut off when the lights shut off. I read that's when they wander the most. Spin streams can handle the night shift.

I'll try that manually placing it's foot in the slot trick.

Or put the whole rock and nem in of those those net breeder boxes. It'll get all the flow and light and it can't wander.

Or build a cage with that needle point plastic canvas

If you're handy with acrylic you can make one of these. :)

This will solve all my problems. I'll even use it at night. I'll even get some to stick my kids in.

Thosenrhings suck to clean, and they can float out the top. but they're cheap enough to try I guess. good luck!

Well it's not permanent. I mean. Just til it attaches. Then at night to give me peace of mind. Can rinse it every morning shouldn't get that much crud in 12 hours.

What if I was to place one over the power head too?

The weave on those is so tight, it will get clogged with algae, detritus and fish food. I've tried those before for anemones and it sucked. if you want something for your powerhead maybe try a 300 micron mesh filter sock, or the enkamat I posted about previously.
