I don't really have any issues in the tank currently, ie phosphates or nitrates, but I do have my reactor on it and it is about time to change the media. Would it even be worth keeping it on there with the carbon and phosphate reducer in it or would it be worth turning it into a macro reactor to build the pod population and whatnot?

My only concern is about the reactor cracking from the heat of the light strip going around it over time. Granted if I did the macro reactor it would only be on about 5-6 hours every night.

Thoughts?

Depending on the light you choose it should be "ok". UV is the killer for acrylic.
