Real Australian Live Rock Back!!!!

Eric was extremely helpful, the rock arrived in great condition, with live coralline, a tiny amount of red macro algae, and other life on it. It was exactly what I was looking for.

The Aussie and Soloman Island live rock is exactly what I think of when someone “live rock”. It’s branchy pours and has the variety of life on it that I’m looking for.

When I spoke to Eric there wasn’t much rock left but he was very transparent and showed me that the last 5 lbs was mostly rubble which was fine by me, so I purchased it and some fish. The fish also came in great condition. They looked healthy, active and well fed.

I will defiantly purchase more rock when he gets the next shipment in!

adding my name to the list. I am starting a 25 gallon lagoon and I already have about 10lbs of rock that my corals are on. Wondering how much 10lbs of your rock would be shipped to 86001 (Flagstaff, AZ). Also, is it ok to just place this rock in my new tank and not worry about cycling it? Rock looks beautiful btw, and nice to see someone selling it on the west coast.

10 lbs would be around $45-$50.

Yes you could place the rock into your new tank with the other cured rock and wait it out. Might as well since you haven’t started to add livestock yet. If the other rock has already cycled then it will help keep your water quality better during the new cycle. I can also hold the rock and cure it for you and just ship in a week or two to lessen the spike in your tank. We have options!!!

Lost access to my old account, but just wanted to echo all the other posts, Eric’s rock is fantastic. I got 10 LBs of branch rock last month and it looks amazing. Still holding it in a Brute for a few more weeks, but extremely porous, interesting structure, and a good amount of coralline. I haven’t seen any pests or hitchhikers besides a little red macroalgae and two tiny rhodactis mushrooms that survived the journey.

I’ll be sure to post some pictures of the branch rock once I start the build. Thanks again Eric!

We actually collect the rock and hold it in water on the boat. Then transferred from those tanks to a holding system in the warehouse until shipped. Packed in a coral box with sealed bags so it stays wet, we ship it with the fish and coral on the fast flights to Los Angeles. Arriving early in the day I can pick it up and have it in my rock system before the fish and coral are even opened! Pretty sweet and I don’t think we could handle it any better. I do consider the rock uncured when I receive it. It takes about 18-21 days to get it ready for an aquarium. I then pack and ship the same way to your door for next afternoon arrival. I would advise that you hold the rock for observation a few days before adding to your main system.

Thanks for asking! Proud to explain and I think I’m the only one not just leaving the rock sit in boxes til sold. That’s just not right for this level of product.

Like you said I don't know if that is right for this type of rock and cost. Wouldn't that just be dead rock already by the time its sold if its kept in box sealed with no water, how can it be sold for such cost?

I totally agree with you and want to make sure you know what you’re getting. The question really is, “how long had it been sitting in the box”? I don’t let my rock sit….it comes in from the flight and goes into my water or I ship it directly to the customer. I never let the rock sit in boxes more than a few hours which is fine. If it’s in the boxes for days or weeks, it still might look ok, but it’s going to lose all the color and life before restarting again. Know what your getting.

Rock is pretty well cured as it was held in Australia 3 weeks waiting for new cites permits to be issued.

A few leather corals still alive on the rocks and some small corals should be ok too.

Eric and Tankstop is one of the best sources of quality, wild harvested Australian live rock. The pieces are extremely porous and lightweight from eroded Acropora heads and branches.

Plenty of rock for the price because of the lightweight. For 5 lbs was shocked at how much rock there was.

The rock is pre-cured, most likely submerged and illuminated in the holding facilities, but not aggressively so that coralline has faded and they're bone white. They were encrusted with coralline, noticed there were halimeda and sponges, no doubt other micro and macro fauna will make their appearance once things have settled.

As we know, in recent years, wild harvested live rock from the indo-Pacific has been harder to come by. IIRC it was only recently that they allowed regular collection from Indonesia and Australia again.

Treat this live rock well, keep phosphates low and nutrients under control with regular water changes, proper import and export, flow, don’t add a bunch of chemicals and additives and you’ll have the foundation for a stable captive reef.
