Realist Tank Design?

So I was browsing images of tanks and came across the photo shown. Is that realistic in your opinion? What crazy tank designs have you seen? Any seem realistic to you? In a way it doesn't seem realistic to build up a saltwater aquarium like so, but it intrigues me to try and find a way to make it work. Just thought if share the photo and see what everyone thought. What would you do differently?

How would you create a substrate like that along the bottom with out it just collapsing from the force of the power heads?

Either cut foam or use slate or acrylic

Yea, I would think acrylic would do the trick.
To me, thats not realistic, thats called, nothing better to do with time, and wanting to see if it could be done.

My problem with the first picture is that the person who put the tank together knows nothing about fish. This is not how you would aquascape a african cichlid tank not enough hiding spots. Most people with cichlid tanks use a lot of hiding spots in the tank to cut down on aggressive behavior.

Nice... I like realistic scapes, but depending on the footprint can be a challenge.

I disagree about it being a poor layout. I just sold my 125g hap/peacock tank in preparation of starting my reef (and i still have a 75g mbuna tank), and that's a solid layout. Enough to break lines of sight and still enough room to swim around. Mbuna like hiding spaces at the bottom, but haps and peacocks need open room to swim around, and barely use the rocks.

I agree that you'd pretty much have to aquascape that and take a picture as fast as you can, lol. Those big guys pick up sand and move it around all the time. I can't imagine that lasting more than a day haha. Cool looking tho, maybe wouldn't be what I'd go for, but that's not because it's not awesome. For the right person in the right living space, that could really add to the feel of a modern place, and i'm sure the fish would be A-OK.

Steve Weast my friend, Weast. He is the guy in the crowd with the ugliest hat with a "B" on it because he spent all his money on fish and can't afford an "A" list hat.
