Red cap Monti placement

Hey just got this frag, is it okay if the placement of the Monti is on an angle? I don’t have access to any glue anytime soon so can’t glue it down! This was the only spot it could for under the light.

Any suggestions where I could put it when I get glue or advice on where it is now.

Might wanna out it down low on that rock. Otherwise it might grow out and block that entire right side of rock from your lights.

You might want to consider isolating it to its own rock? It's one of those pieces that's great to start with, but before too long, you'll have way more than what you want. But that's not necessarily a bad thing.
If you do mount it to your rock work, then consider it's future size and how much shade/light that it will occupy, as mentioned above. They are fun to watch as they grow, especially in high light and flow.

That’s a good point, I was going to glue it so it faced the back of the tank, so it wouldn’t be shading anything. However upon second thoughts now after reading this I might just keep it free and move it when I need too. Thanks for the response! :))

True that, I’m still weighing up if I want to go full SPS tank or mixed as it’s a relatively small tank (120L/30g tank) thanks for the feedback

If I could I would magnet it to the back glass. Let it be on its own. I have purple Monti in my tank that was smaller than that to begin with, it is now easily the size of a personal pizza. It also grows over anything you try to put on top of it.

They grow like crazy. Look great, consider going lower or where you think it will shade. Will probably grow into a 6” plate size with 12 month.

I don't have any Monti caps in my tank due to their aggressive growth. I'd keep any Monti off the main rock work if you plan on having other sps on the rock. Growing it down low will also slow it down where it's more manageable. The one Monti I do have is at the very bottom isolated on a rock and is doing fine and making a nice platter at about 150 par.
