Scored it at my LFS. It was closed in the pic because I waved my hand over it to get a good pic of the shell. It’s doing great and still very very red/orange on the shell. Seems to only be in the valleys though and not on the scutes.

Some Tridacna shells, mostly Squamosa have color incorporated into the shell. I don't think there is any explanation of this observed finding that I know about. Obviously the chemistry of the sell is not uniform. Coloration likely due to impurities. or minor trace element incorporated in to the shells.

Yes I think they are very nice clams. This one has teal through center, I just increased lighting we shall see where it goes.

How much light do you have? Mine are fast growers and my older one has gone from about 1.75 inch shell to 5 inch shell over about 14 months.
