Red Sea ATO+ water level sensor failure

i just got a temperature sensor failure error on my ATO.. coincidentally last week i recently had to delete the device from reefbeat and the re add it after replacing my router and couldn’t get it to reconnect even though i used same SSID and password. after installing , i was getting lo water reading even though the sump level was fine. i pulled the sensor out of the bracket, rubbed it, put it back and it seemed fine. now this temperature failure happened. do you think i did this?
s3nt mail to support just saying i got the failure after resetting the device. ( didn’t mention the rubbing)

i guess. i’m lucky that it’s only temperature part of the sensor, so the actual ATO functionality is still working.

not sure, but i’m guessing if it reads a high temperature, it would shut off the pump?

The manual says the temperature sensor is for temperature monitoring and you can set up an acceptable range for it to alert you if it goes outside of that range

Last night I changed how the cable hangs off of my water level sensor to remove the lateral strain and the temperature sensor suddenly came back to life lol

I had read, before I purchased mine, that a lot of failures with the original sensor and the replacement seemed to work much better.

Mine failed about a week after and I got a new one and its been solid since then. I am going on 5 months, so not a long window but I really like the ReefBeat App, it is super easy for me to use and I am not a coding or computer expert, so touch and type apps are preferred.

I don't know why the just didn't do a recall or fix it to begin with, but my other RedSea products work like a champ.

I’ll keep my fingers crossed then but I think I will also try to make a float valve holder for it as an additional fallback lol

Agreed the app is great. Unfortunately my sensor failed a little after one year while I was away on vacation. I had to get someone to pour in a several gallons of RODI into my sump while I was away. The second sensor has been working fine but it has only been running for six months or so.

That is frightening as hell.

Half the time I want to figure out something else to use but I really like the app and I am still learning, so I figure I am paying a little tuition to learn.

I don't have a big enough tank to justify full automation and all that, but wish the RedSea products were more dependable. Esp the ATO, it is kind of an important piece of equipment.

I have had 0 issues with the lights or the wave maker or the reefmat roller. But the ATO has me worried.

Fingers crossed you received a good sensor and it does its job.

My initial temp sensor failed about 6 months in. The app made it super simple to get a new one. After 3 weeks I got the new one and installed it. Worked great for two weeks and then the new one failed in the same way. So I had to order another one. The ATO is still functioning, but you can to occasionally ( every few hours) have to press resume in the App. Royal PITA. Red Sea advised that it’s a consumer grade product and they have no control over failure rates. Obv, the supplier is crapping the bed on this.. Red Sea is doing a fine job replacing but my salinity is swinging a little more than I’d like as a result on the constant error readings caused by the temp probe error.

That is crazy. I am 6 months with no issues at all.
I think the remaining amount is a bit off. I always seem to have about a half a gallon more than it says.

But temp and everything else has been spot on.

Be ready to repeat this process every time a sensor needs cleaning.
Even cleaning it with RO water and your fingers breaks it.
I'm on my 6th sensor and it just died...

These sensors are useless.

How do yours break? Mine has a crack at a seam

I'm testing out not cleaning my replacement, and it's been a year since I replaced it, with no issues. So maybe that's the key?

Maybe. I brushed mine one or twice w/ a soft toothbrush in the course of a year, but that definitely wasn’t the catalyst for me

It’s just hit or miss. My replacement failed after a week. The replacement’s replacement has last 2 weeks, so we will see how long it lasts.

I tried replacing two of them, I’m done with Red Sea products. Switched to tunze

Note, this is on my temperate tank so I wonder if the colder water has something to do with it or just better QC in earlier production.

Pump stalls over and over and is unfixable

Mine just died yesterday, trying to fill out the form but it’s not working for Spain…
Worked great until then, it was about to turn its 1st year…
Mine dumped the whole RO reservoir into the sump, the skimmer overflowed but luckily the sump didn’t… by less than an inch
Not happy…
