So my test kit for KH/Alkalinity says add one drop of KH indicator, shake 10 secs, and sample will obtain the start color as shown on card.

I add 1 drop and I do not get the start color. In fact I barely see and change in color.

Am I missing something?

I need to get in a couple of drops at least before I get the blue start colour. But it will be blue - when its ready - it will be a green colour. I use the pro. One tips - get it - I like it

So if I add 5 drops to get the blue, do I count those 5 against the final count?

I´m only using the PRO and there its not matter when the blue will show up. I count all used reagent from the start till the final colour. I would count all drops but I´m not sure with that test - but with the PRO - you count all reagent

I used the Red Sea KH/Alk test in the past. I was looking for information on Red Sea and it looks as though Red Sea does not make the KH/Alk test kit anymore, just the pro version.

I would suggest checking the expiration date on the test, if it is old. Chuck it and use the pro test kits. From what remember one calculated the results by how many drop were used to get the color change.

Expiration is 12/20.... And I know you count the drops... The confusion lies in the fact that it tells me to use one drop to get the start color..... One drop doesn't get me the start color. It takes about 4 to get close

I feel your frustration, when I used the Red Sea Alk test. This was the reason I moved away from the alk test and used the Red Sea pro test kit.:)

Grrrr lol. :) Guess that's what I need to do...

My first post when I came to R2R was about testing here is a link and a lot of good advice here. Since then I now use several different test kits and for different reasons.
