I think I might be dealing with Dino’s. Phosphate and nitrates are zero and I read that is most likely cause of an outbreak. What I thought was diatom has turned to stringy reddish brown and bubbles(not huge bubbles like the pics if you google Dino). Any suggestions? I’ve started feeding a little bit more to raise phosphates but don’t want to swing the other way and have an outbreak of all kinds of other algae.

Just got back from Disney world and my niece did a nice job feeding and topping water off. Everyone’s alive yay!!! Dinos seem to be dying back due to feeding more and turning skimmer off. Also reduced lights to 6hrs a day.

Good deal dude.

Clean setup you've got. I'm digging it

Anyone know what these are? I would say they are about the size of a small flea but all white. They stay still mostly but I can see them crawling around. Sea fleas? Do I need fleas collars for my fish?? Lol

Sorry it took so long to post pics. This is currently what the tank looks like. Still trying to figure out placement on Kenya tree and Rico mushroom as they don’t seem to be happy.

Awesome build !! This is an inspiration , I just started cycling the same tank yesterday . With everything stock as well . I only have 4 lights working thought due to a blown ballast .

Thanks man! Looking forward to seeing your progress. Post some pics! I only use 4 as well might be different as I add coral. Just remember the difference between wants and needs. Take care of the needs first( as I’m saying that to myself).

I think I’ve got dinos. Researching solutions and would appreciate recommendations.
This seems early for Dino’s to show up. They are no fun from my experience. I’ve recently beat them with the addition of copepods, microbacter 7, decreased lighting (if photosynthetic) and finally by adding a UV filter

Only way to know for sure and what kind u r dealing with is to look under a microscope with at least a 400x magnification.

stock skimmer, had to replace pump. Seems to work well once you dial it in. I’ve stopped using it for the time being so to raise phosphate and nitrate because of Dino’s.
I have the same set up. The skimmer is driving me carzy with the microbubbles.

hey how’s it going my tank finally finished cycling , and I bought a clown fish but it seems like the 2 pumps seem to toss him around pretty violently . When I I first started the tank one would push water out and one would suck water in .
But after I finished and came to check it out they both were blowing water out is that the correct function ? I’m a little confused , I assume it is. I’m just now worried if something is wrong , thanks for your help

Glad you finished your cycle. Larger pump on left if you’re looking at the tank pumps water from sump to tank. Smaller pump on right pumps water from the tank to the sump. I think they say the one on the right supplies new water for the protein skimmer.
