Red Sea Reefer 200XL Set-up help.

Hello everyone,

So I'm new to the whole reef aquarium business but I'm looking forward to getting into it and adding some liveliness to my living room!

I purchased a new 200XL and just had some set-up questions. To start, are these levels fine? My floor is very uneven and this was as good as I could get it
.

Then, I saw something about a paper test while doing some research so I gave it a go. I can slip a sheet through the back right and front left sides, however I can't fit several sheets. Will putting water into the tank press the tank down more and thus level it out on the pad? Or should I be worried?

Welcome to R2R! A new tank is always exciting!

The level of the tank looks good. As for the paper test, I would fill the tank with a few inches of water and try it again. I've had several tanks with a little bit of unevenness on the corners and it always corrected once I filled them up. Keep us posted about how it goes :)

So I filled it with about 36 gallons of water and tested the edges. I still (while smaller) do have a gap I can fit several pieces of paper into in the back right.

Is that any better? Is the smaller gap just incidental? The rest of the tank seems fine.

Once you have the tank full, the pad underneath will compress and remove the gaps. The only tanks you have to worry about gaps are the larger older ones, (750 and up). The new large tanks have the new modified stands and silicone.

Welcome!

I always use a black dense foam pad under the tank to have a better adjustment of the tank on the surface. At the same time is thermal isolation.
