My Hanna checker for phosphates showed up today. I tested and it read 200 which i think is the max it reads. So I’m not sure exactly what my phosphates are at but I know it’s to high. I’m doing a large water change tomorrow then I’ll test again and go from there

Did a roughly 25-30 gallon water change today. Got the nitrates to about 6 and phosphates to .3. Now to see if I can keep them there

Update here. I added a purple firefish and banggai cardinal a few days ago along with some more CUC. 5 astrea snails, 4 tiny nassarius snails, 3 hermits, and an emerald crab. Everything’s doing good and the CUC got the little bit of diatoms cleaned up pretty good. Nitrates are around 5-8 but phosphates are back up to about .4. I’ll be doing another water change today or tomorrow to help get it down. I’m thinking about getting my refugium all setup now though.

Ill try to get some decent pictures soon

Figured I’d do an update since I haven’t in a bit. Just hasn’t really been much to update honestly. But everything is doing good! Only thing that has changed is I got my refugium setup about a week ago. All levels still looking good with the exception of phosphates. I’ve got them staying at around .16ppm now, so better then before but still have work to do. I’m starting to look into just getting a small media reactor and running some GFO.

Any suggestions on a small reactor for GFO that can sit outside the sump?

At this point I’m just updating for myself but there’s nothing wrong with that I guess
Got my radions today and set them up. Once I got them connected one of my MP40s would no longer connect to Mobius. Ended up being kind of a pain but I got it all working again

They are called marine pure balls. They are pretty much just a super porous ceramic ball that’s purpose is to house more beneficial bacteria. Also help give copepods and stuff and place to live and breed.

Ok so my refugium seems to be working. Phosphates are still high at .09-.1 but they are for sure coming down. The problem is that my fuge stripped my nitrates. The chaeto still seems ok so far but every time I test my nitrates are a solid 0. Any ideas to get them up so I can keep getting phosphates down? Maybe just feed more heavily for now?

Nice. I got one last week too, great fish, really brought the clowns and green chromis out of their shell too. They all swim around the tank now.

Ya I love him so far haha. He’s by far the biggest in the tank now though so I think everyone else is a bit scared of him

So I ordered a torch coral and something happened with FedEx so it took 2 1/2 days to get to me instead of overnight. Was happy to see it wasn’t completely dead when I got it but it’s still not looking the best. The head on the left is looking rough, don’t have much hope for it. But the head on the right might be ok. Hopefully the polyps will extend and I can get this thing to survive. Wish me luck

Ok so far this is the list of fish I’m thinking, maybe add 1 or 2 more later on but for now I’ll stick to this.

- Black storm clown
- mocha storm clown
- yasha goby + pistol shrimp
- banggai cardinal
- Midas blenny
- purple or helfrichi firefish

What order do you guys think I should add them? So I can avoid aggression problems
My Midas was a little territorial at first, so I’d recommend it be last. Clowns are also territorial once they find their host spot unless you get small ones. All in all, looks like a good community tank! I’m working with the planet aquariums tank of the same size.

Update:
Started dosing nitrates yesterday and so far it’s going great. Checked my fuge this morning on the chaeto looks better then ever and is full of bubbles which I’m guessing is a good sign of photosynthesis happening. Phosphates today are the lowest they’ve been yet at .08

Also here’s some pictures of the zoas I got yesterday
