So I won the red sea reefer 350 at my LFS about a month ago through raffles and wanted to get some thoughts on what return pump I should get for it. Debating between the Sicce pump 4.0 or Eheim 3000. Anyone have any experiences with these two pumps? Looking for less sound and having enough flow for the tank. Should i get 1 mp40 or 2 mp10?

I can't speak for those pumps personally on the Reefer, but if you do go with one I believe you'll want to go with either a Sicce 5.o or Eheim 5000 to account for head.

As for the mp10's, the glass is too thick on a Reefer to properly hold them so I wouldn't try. What type of coral do you plan on keeping?

This is a nice thread to be a part of as a Reefer owner :)

Awesome win! I'd recommend MP40's on that tank.

It kinda depends on your rock scape as to what powerheads will eliminate dead spots. What are your ideas regarding that?

Get a vectra m1 return pump and mp40.
That is what I am using for my red sea reefer 450.

Go with Red Sea's recommended pump size. The recommendations are with zero head. It really makes dialing in the overflow valve easier in my experience.

If you decide to go with Sicce, go larger. I have one on my 55 and head pressure is not great. I travel 3ft and with one outlet, I have lost about half the volume of water that the pump says. Don't get me wrong, I love mine cause it is super quiet, I just would have gone bigger and just dialed down the pressure as they are adjustable. Eheim in my experience has been a little noisier with a smaller pump.

I use an Eheim and it's been very quiet and reliable. I like to rely on supplementary pumps in the tank for additional flow rather than increasing turnover in the sump. I wouldn't up the pump size unless you plan to run a bunch of other equipment on a manifold. You will be able to dial in the overflow with increased flow I guess I just wonder why you'd want to. Let your Ecotechs provide the circulation in the tank and give the equipment in your sump some time to treat the water passing through it.

Ecotech is all I'll buy. I have an M-1, two MP-40's, an MP-10, one xr-15 gen3pro and one xr-15 Gen4pro. Having the power of precision at the top of your fingers with a reef link is a great feeling

I would go with 2 mp40 one on each side and get a reeflink so you can easily program it.
If you have the money go with radion g4 xr30w 2 of them.
I know it cost alot but doing it right the first time save you lot of moneys and headaches.

Thanks for the response! Went and ordered the second Mp40! I actually bought the reefer deluxe which comes with 2 hydra 26hds. I have the reefer 170 with a hydra 26 and have had great success. Thanks!
