Launched about seven hours ago in UK!

hope you like it - new “precision valve” seems to still be a diaphragm, but the system is much easier to convert to US plumbing.

It's not exactly "plug & play" for the ReefMat - since you still have to run the tubing from one side of the sump to the other. But I like that the filter sock and media basket holders slide out now.

I’m actually curious what’s different. I just purchased a Reefer-S 850 and now seeing the G2 version there doesn't appear to be any difference (aside from a $100 increase in price) at least not on their compare section of the site.

The warranty is probably the biggest improvement. 3 years standard plus up to 2 additional years (assuming for a cost).

I too want to know what has changed from the Reefer 250 v3 sump and pipes. I bought their doser and their slide out, etc. but found with a true ATO and chiller, there was no room for the slide out panel on the right but only the left - except Red Sea wasted it with new pipes and a sump design. Anyone know if the 250 reefer G2 and sump have straight down pipes like before or wasted the space as they did with the Reefer 250 v3 design?

Except you run into issues with location of the gravity fed ATO.

I like that they include the ability to use metric or imperial plumbing sizes. The aluminium bracket under the front floating pane, silicone protection strips, and longer warranty are all "damage control" items from the bursting tanks of yesteryear. The beefer stands are a nice and needed upgrade in quality. The dual return nozzles are just keeping up with the Jones's.

Overall a nice improvement.

Exactly. This is why I have a Trigger Systems ATO with Apex ATK, takes care of both. I really don't even care about the ATO at this point as I have it connected to a live RODI system that mixes up 10g of saltwater and is RODI for top off otherwise. The main issue with their ATO is its too small for most warmer regions where they are indoors. You'd think this would click with CTO (great presentations though) that any tank that has or needs room for a chiller probably has an issue needing regular ATO or at least a larger one than they ever include.

Now to get another Apex FMM and leak detection kits. Glad I invested on all the Apex stuff with the Nano model earlier...

Agreed - they really need to rethink their ATO setup and design. I like Cade's design with the ATO at the back of the tank.

The 300XL G2 is a the top of the list for me. It sounds like they took lots of user input and implemented in this version. Some of the mentioned updates affect the 350+ but still some nice features on the smaller size.

I still prefer the s series. I like the top bracing even just to keep splashes off of the front while cleaning.

Only the 625 and above have the aluminum edge to support the floating front panel? that's disappointing

As a maintenance professional, I’ve worked with dozens of Red sea tanks and I’ve only seen issues with the seam separating on the 60 inch and above aquariums.
