Red sea reefer gen 2 leak question

Orlando, I would remove the doors and see if I could put several clamps along that lower seal until you can get a new tank. I would also send that pic to Red Sea and ask for an explanation. This is such an obvious case that it could not be ignored.

Ideally, place a piece of lumber (2x4, or similar) between tank glass and clamp jaws along the span of each seam; helping to distribute the load of all your clamps!

That absolutely looks like an imminent failure.as soon as the bubbles and sand exceed the width of the armored plastic seam guard, that’s the time to worry. What model is it? Are you sure it’s a g2? Eg red or gray piping. If it’s a 7series xxl did it get the stand bracing update?

What you are seeing is a seam failure about to happen.

G2 tanks also have thicker short vertical pane glass than G1 tanks, typically! (Usually 12mm, vs. 10mm) — this creates a 20% thicker structural seam, but still doesn’t compensate for inferior silicone!

OP, please take this advice. Otherwise the clamps won’t work as desired.

Clamp it up with a piece of strong wood covering the whole seam! This will buy you enough time to get a new tank. Sucks you have to go trough this OP.

Do yourself a favor and replace that tank with something not made by red sea.
I'd recommend @Joe Glass Cages , or Planet Aquarium here in the USA.

Do what I am doing in this picture. It's scary.

And yet, people keep buying Red Sea.
Folks who don't frequent social media or forums I suppose are more likely to buy Red Sea than any other brand since it's always front and center on most websites and they have one of the largest authorized vendor list so naturally the LFS's will likely push them too.
